Shri Ishari Velan strongly believed that education was the key to a better world and he always dreamed of starting a school. Though he wasn’t
able to fulfill this dream during his lifetime, his son Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh started the Vels College of Pharmacy in 1992, in his memory.
Through his hard work and relentless passion for Education, Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh started Vels Group from scratch and made it what it is today,
successfully realising his father’s dreams.

Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh started Vels College of Pharmacy in a rented building in Mylapore, Chennai
with only 36 students and 10 teachers. More than 25 years later, Vels has now become a well-renowned name
not only in education, but also in entertainment, healthcare, hospitality and more.
